Eclipses (2011)

dir. Daniel Hui

A woman struggles to come to terms with society after withdrawing into her own world to mourn her late husband. As she grieves, the film gradually splinters outward to observe the lives of those around her — people from different classes and backgrounds, including the director’s own family. Set against familiar Singaporean landscapes such as school canteens, MRT trains, and construction sites, the film becomes a quiet reflection on the ways individuals navigate loss, labour, family, and everyday life.
