The Man on the Roof (1976)

Detective Martin Beck and his colleagues are investigating the murder of a former policeman when someone starts shooting at them from a rooftop in the Vasastaden neighbourhood of Stockholm – and the hunt begins. Director Bo Widerberg’s, 'The Man on the Roof', about the pursuit of a man who killed a corrupt police officer, is considered one of the best Swedish film thrillers of all time. This year, the film celebrates 50 years. Written and directed by Bo Widerberg, this is adapted from the popular 1971 novel, The Abominable Man by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö.
