A police convoy stretches into a relentless yet meditative road trip in this intense study of character, conscience and conviction.
Through the rolling mountains of the Knuckles range in Sri Lanka, a landscape shaped by colonial violence and unforgiving geographies, three police officers escort a young prisoner to his village, periodically distracted by their personal worries. As the conflicts and conundrums of the police officers’ jobs start to intensify, the prisoner becomes a mirror of their hypocrisies. At the same time, the divisions between men, between Tamil and Sinhalese, between those who wield different levels of power, become more complicated, revealing the potential for humanity and connectedness in the face of state violence. Their journey turns into a meditation on duty, morality and the quiet burdens that shape human lives.
