4K RESTORATION Original Title: Նռան գույնը Alternative Title: Sayat Nova Director: Sergei Parajanov Runtime: 78 mins Country: Armenia Language: Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgian, with English Subtitles Rating: NC16 Synopsis The Colour of Pomegranates follows the life of 18th-century poet Sayat Nova through the abstract and metaphorical depiction of his childhood till his death. In this renowned masterpiece, instead of a traditional film narrative, Parajanov structured the film as a series of tableaux, which he characterised as “miniatures”, evoking the pictorial and narrative principles of Armenian and Persian miniature painting. This 4K restoration, undertaken by Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project, is the Armenian released version, which is considered the version closest to Parajanov’s vision.
