He is forced to roam the world for a thousand and one nights to earn the hand of his true love. Based on an Azeri short love story, a fairy tale by Parajanov’s favourite Russian poet, Mikhail Lermontov, Ashik Kerib was Parajanov’s last completed film. He dedicated this film to Andrei Tarkovsky, his peer and a rebellious figure of Soviet Cinema.
