Synopsis :
Not Quite Ready Yet
Regardless of age, who amongst us has not stumbled and had to confront chaos? This collection of short films dives into the messiness of ‘putting oneself out there’, and in doing so, captures the absurd, the terrifying, and the unexpectedly tender moments arising from attempts to make it through, one mistake at a time.
The 5 short films screened (in sequence)
Two Travelling Aunties by Christine Seow / 21:48 min (Consumer Advice: *Homosexual Theme)
In their fifties, Norah and Susie leave behind conventional living for van life, embracing newfound freedom and the joy of living life on their terms. Sharing new adventures, they reveal a deeper story of resilience as a queer couple. A tender road trip that celebrates courage, joy, and chosen love.
As If to Nothing by Pek Jia Hao and Ang Jia Jun (我的未來不是梦) / 20 min (Consumer Advice:*Nudity)
After being evicted by the local gangsters, an old carpenter goes on a futile search for his missing cat. As he meanders through the forgotten people and places, he is forced to confront the incurable decay of the town.
Love Quest by Kevia Tan / 6:36 min (Consumer Advice: *Some Sexual References)
Love Quest is a performative desktop documentary that uses The Sims to reconstruct the dating experiences of two app users. Blending real-life interactions with digital gameplay, it reflects the gamified nature of modern dating and questions whether love can truly be found online.
Tomorrow by Chua Wei Jie / 1:48 min
A woman feeds a dollar into a vending machine. The machine rejects it, then begins speaking-questioning and taunting her indecision. Rows of drinks swirl into a maddening maze of “what ifs” as her doubts spiral. Paralyzed by endless options, she withdraws until the machine picks for her, bearing a note.
Children's Day by Giselle Lin / 20 min
Shy eight-year-old Xuan struggles to find the perfect outfit for her school’s upcoming Children’s Day celebration while adjusting to a turbulent home life and an unlikely new friendship at school.
