Synopsis: Kinship, Love & Courage Love is rarely simple and its reach can be boundless. Whether it’s the quiet devotion to a person or the fierce loyalty to a community, these stories explore the tenderness, bravery, and quiet power of connection. The 5 short films screened (in sequence): ​​Withering Tree and Living Ashes (槁木与生灰) by Tan Wei Ting / 23:05 min​ A kindergarten teacher who is used to caring for the hopeful young, searches for the meaning of decay when she takes on the role of a caregiver for her father who lives with dementia. Initially dissatisfied with her family’s caregiving methods, she soon finds herself facing the same challenges—confronting the quiet, irreversible decay that is part of life. Bobo in Bliss (秋日晚風) by Vivian Ip / 16:25 min​ (Consumer Advice: *Homosexual Theme) Confronted with a visit by her traditional parents and younger sister to her boarding school, a Singaporean teenager attempts to reconcile the differences between their values and her affirming self-discoveries. Suara by Kevin Leonardo Theo / 21:45 min (Consumer Advice: *Some Coarse Language) International student Kiana is torn between the life she’s built in Singapore and returning to her roots in Indonesia. Trapped in a state of limbo reflected by the political climate around her, Kiana must confront her family, her fate, and her own desires in a final choice between happiness and stability. Madame Margaux by Tan Yan Ying Nikki / 17:14 min (Consumer Advice: *Some Mature Content) What do a warbler and a drag queen have in common? Both are undiscovered, until now. Meet Madame Margaux, a Queen who seamlessly blends her art and passion for nature to inspire others to protect it.Drawing inspiration from the Tboli leaf warbler they helped discover, Margaux uses performance to promote the preservation of their indigenous land. My Popo's Favourite Colour is Yellow by Winnie Chua Wei Lin / 5:20 min Drifting through disappearing neighbourhoods and shifting watercolour landscapes, a girl journeys through ephemeral memories of her grandmother’s home — only to find them blurred, flawed and misunderstood.
