Synopsis
Operation Lightning (1966)
When his fellow agent Ali is mysteriously killed during a mission, secret operative Jefri Zain is assigned to investigate. His search uncovers a dangerous underground organisation led by the ruthless Commander G-Man, whose plans threaten national security.
Touted as Singapore’s version of James Bond and heavily inspired by Terence Young’s Dr. No (1962), this stylish Malay spy thriller produced by the Shaw Brothers drew widespread attention not just for its local and international casting, but also for the way it showed Singapore in an espionage fantasy, with the rooftop chase at Capitol Theatre being a highlight.
